The interior was excavated and built directly out of solid rock, and is bathed in natural light which enters through a skylight surrounding the center copper dome. The church is frequently used as a concert venue due to its excellent acoustics which stem from the rough, virtually unworked rock surfaces.
The balcony provides the most comprehensive view of the church’s beautiful interior.
But it is equally impressive from ground level.
Votive candles are placed next to one of the rock walls.
After visiting the church, we went for lunch at the nearby Bakery Eatery Levain Töölö. We had avocado toast with a side salad, and a cup of coffee. The toast was excellent, the coffee was fine but nothing to write home about.
