Today’s focus during the drumming lesson was starting to work on some 16th-note patterns. I found these more challenging than the 8th-note patterns from last time - the new thing being that the 16th notes played on the kick drum fall between the 8ths played on the hi-hat. Here is a short sample of me practicing along to Sting’s “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You”.

Exiting the building after the lesson, the weather was great, so I decided to walk the fairly short distance between Komagome and Sugamo Stations. From Sugamo, I took the subway to Ogawamachi, where I met my wife for a late cafe lunch. Afterwards, we did some shopping and went for a two-hour Karaoke session in Jimbocho. Dinner was a simple chicken burrito at one of the few Taco Bells that I have seen in Japan so far.
